Harnessing the sun for fuel

Decades ago, oilmen had little interest in natural gas, the byproduct of crude extracted from the earth. So, they burned it off, like so many lit torches atop Texas’s oil fields. Now he’s living in the Valley of the Sun, working to develop a different kind of energy industry. Read more.

City of Mesa September Sustainability Savings Tip

While sustaining a lush, green lawn throughout the year is appealing to many home and business owners, the additional water needed for cool-season grasses is difficult to justify when water is such a precious resource. Now more than ever, saving every drop we can is critical as we experience exceptional drought conditions as well as climate pressures that may trigger water shortages to our Colorado River water supplies. By learning to accept a less-than-lush lawn during the winter months, property owners will not only help protect Arizona’s water supplies, but will also realize significant time savings, and best of all dollar savings! Read more for other tips.
